A Special Valley

We know the Valley is special in so many different ways.  For example, we have the beauty of the landscape; the productivity of the land; the faith and industry of the people; and the salt-and-light influence of our churches, pastors, and teachers.

We also have a great group of Valley legislators who stand up and fight for our most deeply held values of Life, Faith, Family, and Freedom at the General Assembly in Richmond – in and out of session.

But do we stand alone in this fight?  How about those on the other side of the mountain?  Do they have the same love of God & Country that we do here?  Are they also concerned about the mis-direction of America, and willing to step up and do something about it?  If so, who are they, and how can we work together to help advance Kingdom values in Virginia?

Friends across the Mountain

For starters, we have groups like The Family Foundation, which has been there for nearly 30 years.  But there are also newer groups like the Virginia Christian Alliance (VCA).  It was in the news earlier this year calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Mark Herring because he violated his oath to defend the laws of Virginia – including our marriage law.  And VCA continues to stand up and speak out boldly for Judeo-Christian values wherever and whenever they are challenged.  So, who are they, what do they do, and why does it matter?

That’s why we have invited some good Friends from Richmond to help us kick off this new series called “A Celebration of God and Country”.

Don Blake is the VCA Chairman and President who is a VCU graduate, Army veteran, and businessman who has served on numerous boards, including The Family Foundation, and is a frequent guest on Richmond media.

Greene Hollowell is the VCA Founder who formed and led his own general contracting company for nearly 40 years.  He is also active with the Pro-Life Ministry as well as the co-author of Common Sense , a booklet dedicated to President Obama.  Find out more about VCA at www.vachristian.org.
