“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”  (Ps. 33:12)

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.”  (Prov. 29:2)

Shameless, Lawless, and Godless?

Americans have faced many grave challenges over our 400-year history.  However, those we face today are potentially more serious than ever before because they are coming from within and threatening who we are as a nation and as a people.  They are shameless, they are often lawless, and some would say they are even “Godless”.  For example:

—   We are in a war with our own government for its unrelenting attempts to expel God and His Word from our culture and from the public square.

—   We are in a war with our own government because of its shameless attacks on the inalienable rights to life and to liberty, as well as on the historic foundations of natural marriage and of the family.

—   We are in a war with our own government for its unconstitutional over-reach of executive and judicial power and its lawless imposition of oppressive federal regulations that strangle our national prosperity.

—   We are in a war against greed, corruption, and a growing sense of entitlement and dependency on a government that has plunged us into a massive and immoral national debt of over 18 trillion dollars.  That is over $56,000 per citizen!

Taking a S.T.A.N.D.

The Declaration of Independence says that when our government fails to secure our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the people have not only a right but a duty to alter or to abolish it and to form a new one.

So what can “We the People” do to rebuild the Judeo-Christian values and enduring principles on which America was founded and has prospered – and how can our churches be involved?

Those are some of the questions we will be asking Bishop E. W. Jackson this weekend in a repeat of an earlier VFIA interview.  He is a former Marine and Harvard Law School graduate, a pastor, and President of S.T.A.N.D. (Staying True to America’s National Destiny).  He was the keynote speaker at our Celebration of God & Country dinner three years ago, a candidate for Lt. Governor of Virginia two years ago, and the winner of our Daniel Award one year ago!
