“Let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”  Galations 6:9-10

“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”  — Thomas Paine, 1776

Ground Zero:  What to Do When All Seems Lost?

We began to air these Crossroads radio programs in January and are now in our 40th week.  However, during this time, our culture has gone from bad to worse on the core issues that we have discussed at various times throughout the year.  For example:

On Life, we are witnessing a new level of barbarism with the expose of Planned Parenthood’s horrific practice of not only aborting over 300,000 babies each year but then selling the body parts of these aborted babies to unscrupulous buyers.

On Marriage, we were devastated by the misguided Supreme Court’s decision to “legalize” same-sex “marriages” and in the process to overturn the laws of more than 30 states and against the expressed will of millions of Americans.

On Religious Liberty, we have been overwhelmed by vicious attacks on Biblical teaching and on those who hold to those teachings, especially regarding Life and Marriage.  They include businesses, civil and military personnel, schools, and non-profit organizations.

On EMU and the Church, we were deeply disappointed by the failure of self-identified “Christian” organizations like Eastern Mennonite University to stay true to Biblical teaching on issues like marriage despite its school motto of “Thy Word Is Truth”.

So, has the pendulum swung too far?  Can America be pulled back from the edge of its own self-destruction?  What can we do?

At the Crossroads:  Where Faith and Culture Meet

That is the big question that we will be asking our Special Guest, Donna Lou Shickel, this weekend.

We are delighted to have her back on the air with us this weekend because it was at her invitation and with her encouragement that we agreed to carry the torch that she had carried so valiantly for seven years in her program called “A Place of Grace”.

Therefore, please join us on one of the following Valley stations:  WBTX (1470) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and then again on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.; WSVA (550) and WSVA/FM (92.1) at 8:30; WHBG/ESPN (1360) at 9:00; and WNLR (1150) at 11:30.

Thank you so much for your prayers and your support.  If you would like to help, please send your check to Crossroads at PO Box 881, Harrisonburg, 22803.  All gifts are tax-deductible.

Flash Reminder:  Voter Registration Deadline Is This Tuesday

One of the most important things we can do to restore our Judeo-Christian values and Constitutional principles in America is to vote for, support, and elect men and women who believe in and will fight for these core issues.

We have an election coming up on November 3 in which all of our Valley State Senators and Delegates are up for re-election.  Therefore, if you are not yet registered to vote, the deadline for doing so is this coming Tuesday, Oct. 13.

To do so, please contact your local voter registration office immediately.   You can find them listed in the “Government Services” section of your telephone directory.

From the Crossroads Team, for Life, Faith, Family, and Freedom!
