A Choice or a Child?
Churches in the Valley and across America are tomorrow observing Sanctity of Life Sunday to mark the 42nd anniversary of that horribly misguided Supreme Court decision in 1973 known as Roe v. Wade.
It is that ongoing debate over the right of an unborn child to live vs. the right of the parent(s) to destroy his or her life that is the topic of our Crossroads program this Sunday, “Where Faith and Culture Meet”.
Host John Sloop will be challenging Rita Dunaway and me to dig into the background of that fateful decision. What has been its impact on women, on their babies, and on America?
In addition, what standards can guide us in determining the Right or Wrong of taking the life of an unborn child? What does the Bible say? Should the church speak out against it, or is it too “political”?
The Law and the People
And what about the law? What has the Virginia General Assembly done to help protect unborn children and their mothers, what are they doing this year, and what more can and should they do in the future?
Going forward, can they not at least acknowledge that the Right to Life comes to us from God, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, and enact laws that reflect that?
However, with or without them, what can we do to help put an end to this ongoing holocaust that has already taken 56 million lives? (See reminder below about the March for Life next Thursday.)
Finally, what hope is available to women who have had an abortion and are still suffering from it, both physically and mentally?
