Tue., Jan. 27: Two Big Events in Richmond with COS & TFF
1. COS: The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a “Rally for the Republic” at the Bell Tower on Capitol Square located at 1000 Bank St. HSLDA and Patrick Henry College Founder Mike Farris will share his passion for calling a “Convention of States” to amend the Constitution for the purpose of reining in our runaway federal government, imposing fiscal discipline, and returning power to the states and to the people. — Crossroads Broadcast Note: John Sloop, Rita Dunaway, and I will be discussing this “Convention of States” initiative on our weekly radio program tomorrow. 2. TFF: The VA General Assembly is in full swing and our Values are on the legislative table. Therefore, The Family Foundation is holding its annual “Day at the Capitol” at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Registration begins at 1:30 for the 2:00 program.
— The featured speaker will be Stella Morabito, a senior contributor at The Federalist, on “Living Faithfully in a Culture of Fear: How to Understand Political Correctness and Resist the Rush to Conform” . — Huckabee: In addition, attendees are also invited to participate in a Town Hall meeting at 7:00 p.m. with Mike Huckabee , former governor of Arkansas, former presidential candidate, and formed host of the weekly “Huckabee” TV program on Fox News. This event is limited to afternoon program attendees.
— The Bus: Friends from the north have invited us to join their chartered bus for these two Family Foundation events at only $10/person! It will pick us up at 10:15 a.m. at Lowes in Harrisonburg and at 11:00 at Walmart in Staunton. We will return immediately after the Town Hall meeting with Huckabee. Feb. 4 – 6: Judges Needed for Speech & Debate Tournament
3. SVCF: The Shenandoah Valley Christian Forensics Association is hosting a regional Speech & Debate tournament at Covenant Presbyterian Church located at 546 W. Mosby Road in Harrisonburg. The tournament aims to help homeschooled students between 12 and 18 to communicate their faith effectively on a broad range of topics. Friday, May 15: “God and Country” Annual Dinner
