“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life.   Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first – the most basic – expression of Americanism.  Thus the Founding Fathers saw it, and thus with God’s help, it will continue to be.”  Dwight Eisenhower (1955)

“If we ever forget that we’re One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation Gone Under.”
Ronald Reagan (1984)

Happy New Year!

With Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations still fresh in our minds, and as we close out the Old Year and step into the New, we are again reminded of our many blessings.  However, we are also challenged by a keener awareness of what we must do to protect our precious heritage for ourselves and for our posterity.

Our Heritage …

It is so easy to take it all for granted.  For example, what would the world be like today if Jesus had never been born?  And where would we be today if America had not been founded and established on Judeo-Christian values and constitutional principles?

What if our Founding Fathers had not pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to win our independence in the 18th century?  And what if our forefathers had not fought to end slavery in the 19th century, or to defend us from tyrants and terrorists in the 20th century?

… and Our Hope

We have so much to be grateful for, but this great heritage is under intense attack today by those who reject the idea that America is, ever was, or ever can be a Christian nation.  What will the New Year bring, and what can we do to keep our Godly Heritage alive?

Our program this weekend is entitled “Giving Thanks for Our Godly Heritage” with special guest Stephen McDowell, President of the Providence Foundation in Charlottesville and also President of the Foundation’s Biblical Worldview University.  To learn more, go to www.providencefoundation.com.
