The Roundtable Invitation
As in past years, we are again pleased to host an extraordinary program especially for Pastors and Ministry Leaders on Friday, May 15, just before our “Salute to the Family” dinner.
It will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Allegheny Room of JMU’s Festival Conference and Student Center where we met last year with Stephen McDowell and Bishop E.W. Jackson to review our “Heritage and Hope”.
For Everyone: Please Bring Your Pastor!
While the Roundtable is especially for our Valley “Watchmen on the Wall” pastors and lay leaders, everyone is welcome who is concerned about the direction of our country, about attacks on our religious freedoms, and who — like Nehemiah — is ready to help rebuild the walls of our own Jerusalems.
Therefore, please pass this on to your pastor, encourage him/her to attend, and come along. In addition, ask them to join you for the dinner that follows at 6:30. (See dinner note at bottom.)
Witt: The Voice of America’s Pulpits — Past and Present
Travis Witt, pastor and impersonator of 18th century Valley Pastor John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg, will be with us in full period clerical dress to review America’s early Black Robe Regiment and the first Great Awakening which inspired and helped codify the political and religious freedoms we enjoy today.
What was it like then compared to what we are experiencing today, and what must we do now to restore the unity and passion for religious freedom that is so critical to our survival as a people and as a nation?
Cruz: Houston under Fire
Rev. Rafael Cruz, father of Senator and now presidential candidate Ted Cruz, will then review the situation in Houston, where the militant lesbian mayor has demanded that Houston pastors turn over copies of sermons or church papers that opposed what became known as her “bathroom” bill.
This bill, if left unchallenged, would permit individuals to use restrooms according to their chosen “sexual identity” rather than their natural gender. He will address other challenges as well.
ADF: Christian Freedom in the Crosshairs
Rita Dunaway will join a representative of Alliance Defending Freedom, America’s premier champion of religious liberty, for an overview of the rapidly growing attacks on Christians in recent years.
They will describe the ways in which secular activists such as the ACLU and even our own government are attempting to muzzle the Christian voice — and what we can do to ensure that we will not be silenced.
The Roundtable will conclude with an open discussion moderated by Forum Chaplain John Sloop.
